Grief comes to work too...
When someone dies, the people left behind don't just grieve. They inherit a long list of tasks: registering the death, notifying banks and pensions, dealing with probate, closing accounts and sorting out digital assets. Most people are doing this for the first time, often while still trying to work.
For employers, that shows up as stress, time off and staff who feel unsupported at one of the hardest moments of their lives.
What we did in Wood Green
On 15 September 2026 we delivered our Managing Affairs After a Death session with North London Hospice at the Living Well Centre in Wood Green. In one hour, we walked people through the practical steps that follow a death, in plain English, and showed them where to find support.
Now we're bringing the same session to workplaces and organisations.
What the workshop covers
- Registering a death
- Who to notify, and in what order
- Probate and finances
